Drupals grundare Dries Buytaert har storslagna planer för sitt enormt snabbväxande CMS. Drupal, ”the Linux of the web”, ska bli vad Ubuntu eller RedHat är för Linux.
Inspirerarad av Facebook och Open Social tror Dries att CMS och sociala communitys i framtiden måste tillhandahålla ett öppet API. Drupal i framtiden ska agera för att nå ut till alla användartyper, över hela världen. CMS:et i version 7 ska ”be a stepping stone when it comes to data mobility”.
”The idea is to let Drupal be a data repository that can be accessed by tools and websites across the network. It is where custom content types, web service APIs, semantic web technologies and Drupal’s fine-grained access control mechanism come together.”
Dries har även startat ett startup företag kring Drupal, Acquia.
